The Sharon Hunter -Pennicook Scholarship
The Sharon Hunter-Pennicook Scholarship is awarded to a student at the St. Thomas Technical High School who models good citizenship and academic excellence. The scholarship, valued at $50, 000 is open to students in grades 8 – 13.
The ideal candidate is very active in school life, participating in extra-curricular and community activities, modelling positive values and embodying character traits such as responsibility, perseverance, respect and empathy.
Eligibility Criteria
- Currently enrolled at the St. Thomas Technical High School and have completed at least grade 7.
- Participates in co-curricular, displays leadership and citizenship.
- Achieved at least a B average in the previous school year.
Selection Process
Our committee will review all applications and create a shortlist of applicants. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to write an essay at an arranged time. One applicant from this pool will be awarded the scholarship. The successful candidate will be the student who best meets the selection criteria.
How to Apply
- Collect application forms from the Language, Literacy and Communication Department.

About
Sharon Hunter-Pennicook
The scholarship is in honour of Sharon Hunter-Pennicook who gave 38 years of distinguished service to the St. Thomas Technical High School.





Sharon Hunter-Pennicook was a long-standing member of the St. Thomas Technical High School before retiring after giving thirty-eight (38) years of sterling service in various capacities. She was a Grade Supervisor, teacher of French, Head of the Language, Literacy and Communication Department and she has acted as Vice Principal. As well as being a teacher of dance, Sharon was a sports enthusiast and was a House Leader for many years. Before retiring she worked as the school’s Work Experience Officer.
Mrs Pennicook resides in the Community of Seaforth, St. Thomas, where she is actively involved in community activities as the President of the Seaforth Community Association. She was a member of the Seaforth High School Board for nine years and is currently the Chairman of the Robert Lightbourne High School is also Secretary of the St. Thomas Parish Development Committee.
